30 attempts at banning reporters from criminal proceedings have resulted from recent US Sup Ct ruling that press and public have no constitutional right of access to pretrial hearings; judges have closed courtrooms in 18 of these cases; Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press reports that motions to close courtrooms are increasing and being granted more frequently; indicates motions to seal criminal proceedings are expanding to include all aspects of trial proceedings, from arrest hearings to sentencing; notes prosecutors are not opposing defense attorneys' motions to close hearings and are sometimes joining motions (M)
