Good News for the Street-Sweepers.

The laborers employed in cleaning the streets were made glad yesterday by the recession of Mayor GUNTHER from the ground he assumed respecting his refusal to sign the note upon the Broadway Bank, for the payment of their wages for the last nine weeks. The Mayor put his signature to the requisition by the advice of the Corporation Counsel. The strike of the street-cleaners is, therefore, at an end, and the danger that the city would be buried in ashes is, for the present at least, avoided. The Mayor's action was made known to the strikers in line for most of them to borrow money by "shaving" their claims, wherewith to keep the New-Year holiday.
