Pres Nixon's deputy special asst Bruce Herschensohn cites number of techniques by which news media distorted public perception of what was occurring in Govt, such as column by William Safire in NY Times indicating that H R Haldeman was paraphrasing Nixon and not quoting him directly when he testified to Watergate com that Nixon said on March 21, '73, that raising hush money for Watergate defendants 'would be wrong'
